City and County Liscence Information
What you need to license your dog...
A valid rabies certificate is required and it must say on it that it is a rabies certificate and signed by the veterinarian or stamped by the hospital (clinic) that administered the vaccine. If your dog has been spayed or neutered since the last licensing, you must bring in the spay or neuter certificate and this too must say that it is a certificate.
City Dog Liscence
The City of Stockton issues permanent lifetime dog tags. Once your dog has been issued a pemanent tag they will not be issued another unless the original is lost. You will have to renew that tag every year.
All licensed expire December 31st of the year for which they are issued. Renewal slips are sent by mail uring the last half of December. You have all of January and February to get your license renewed. A penalty is added ater 5:00pm on March 1st.
All dogs must have a valid rabies vaccine good through the entire year of licensing, the only exception is for puppies who were under one year of age when they were vaccinated for rabies. But eventually all dogs must get their rabies vaccine in January or February to get your license reneed. A penalty is added after 5:00pm on March 1st.
Cost for the licenses are $6.00 for spayed or neutered dogs. For dogs not spayed or neutered the cost is $12.00. The penalty after March 1st is $20.00. Replacing a lost tag is $1.00 and you must have your copy of the renewal slip.
County Dog Liscence
A county license is valid for one year from the date that the license is issued.
A valid rabies vaccination is required for the purpose of dog licensing . This vaccination must cover the entire period of the license and cannot expire any ime during that year, except in the case of a one year vaccine for dogs under 12 months of age (in which case any vaccination will be accepted as valid).
A delinquent penalty of $20.00 will be accessed for any of the following:
1. 60 days after any dog license has expired.
2. 60 days after a dog has reached four months of age.
3. 60 days after acquiring a new dog.
4. 60 days after becoming a new resident to the county or city.
Cost of the license is $6.00 with proof of spay or neuter, $12,00 for un-neutered males and females, or dogs with no proof fo spay or neuter. Replacement tags are $1.00 (plus you need to bring in your paper copy of the license).
